Is Meta’s New One Subscription Worth the Price?

On September 15, 2026, Meta released Meta One, which is a “subscription service with more features and AI to create, connect, and stand out”. This subscription comes with a hefty price tag, especially for small business users.

Price of Social Media

There has been a lot of conversation about the amount of advertising on newsfeeds lately. It seems that for every three posts, there is at least one ad (just a generalized assumption per our own timelines – not a real stat!) Users are also chattering about not seeing posts from their friends or the posts being in any kind of chronological order.

The days of 2004 Facebook are over as we know it.

Now, businesses are all over the social media network, vying for your attention. We completely understand this as we have business accounts that are creating content to catch the eye of our target audience. Meta’s One subscription may be another way to get those businesses more to the forefront of their target audience, but in what form and will it be simply pay and we push you to the top or use our content-creating tools and we push you to the top? Or is there no guarantee of anything that has to do with posts and it is all about a better profile presence and backend data?

Meta Wants All of Your Marketing Budget

Meta’s One Subscription tiers:

  • Creator and business plans start at $14.99/month
  • Advanced starts at $49.99/month
  • Max tier is a whopping $499/month

Meta has started to roll out the new “rules” that come with the One subscription, and a big one has really turned organic posting upside down!

And each tier has different incentives associated with them. The biggest one being the number of included links.

Meta has now stated that unless you buy into one of their subscriptions, you can only have 2 organic links in your posts per month. Two! Now marketers are either going to have to get creative (per usual) or pay up. They have been slowly rolling this out, so you may not have been given this alert yet.

The number of links per month that you are allowed depends on which tier you purchase. Does this sound worth $49.99 – $499 a month? Of course there are other “advantages” of the tiers, but this is one that we are closely monitoring.

Businesses need to consider where their target audience is on the internet and determine if their return on investment will be there when paying upwards of $500 per month on a subscription that doesn’t even say they are going to help generate business.

Is More Being Offered?

Those who opt to use AI tools may be very excited about the Meta One subscription. However, we are already seeing a trend of AI posts being hidden, purposefully, by users. Will businesses who specifically use Meta’s AI tools not get the dreaded AI labels on their posts? How will users be able to tell what is AI and what is not if a user is a Meta One subscriber?

What additional metrics are going to be provided? Will there be definitive pathways to increase or decrease whatever the trends are?

Do you have to train the Meta Agent? What happens when the Meta Agent doesn’t have an answer?

There are still a lot of unanswered questions.

The Bottom Line

Again, only time will tell, but a quick search on multiple forums found that people aren’t thrilled about this subscription.

If your goal is to get a better reach with your posts, generate more clicks to your website, or obtain new followers, it doesn’t seem that is what you are going to be paying for with any of the Meta One subscriptions beyond just having the ability to have links that lead to external pages. The bottom line is that this seems like an upgrade to your profile, with AI-tools readily available to you, capabilities to post links, see more analytics and other professional things. But the promise of, “pay $499 a month and your posts will be shown to your target audience more” is not there.

What is your marketing strategy on social media? Is another subscription cost available in your marketing budget?
