Case Study: Food Helpers

Strengthening a Local Mission Through a Strategic Marketing Partnership

About the Partner

Food Helpers is a Washington County-based nonprofit committed to ending food insecurity and increasing access to nutritious food for individuals and families in need. The organization initially encompassed several divisions including the Greater Washington County Food Bank, The Farm and Country Thrift Market, working together to distribute food, raise awareness, and offer volunteer opportunities that make a real difference in the community.

A Local Mission Meets Local Marketing

Food Helpers became a client through an opportunity offered at The Headquarters at CNX, where they were one of the tenants. As part of CNX’s co-working space model, Food Helpers was given a marketing budget to work with True Fit Marketing on elevating their brand and communications. As a local agency rooted in Washington County, our team was honored to take on this opportunity to help a nonprofit doing essential work right in our own community.

Discovery to Direction: A Complete Marketing Overhaul

In our initial discovery meeting, True Fit Marketing sat down with the Food Helpers leadership team to understand their structure, mission, challenges, and current marketing approach. What became clear was the need for a unified strategy across all divisions, better brand cohesion, and a more accessible online presence to better serve both their clients and volunteers.

Here’s what True Fit Marketing delivered:

  • Website Redesign and Rebuild
The website team developed a clean, modern website that brought together four separate divisions under one cohesive brand. The user experience was simplified for people looking for food distribution information, directions, donation opportunities, or volunteer registration. The new platform is fully ADA-compliant and integrates their donation system, making it easier for supporters to contribute directly online.
  • Social Media Strategy and Brand Realignment
True Fit Marketing streamlined Food Helpers’ messaging by focusing efforts on two of the most engaged social media platforms. With stronger visuals, consistent voice, and scheduled content, the team helped drive better engagement and increased awareness about monthly food distributions, community needs, and events.
  • Brand Identity and Creative Work
Our team created a new brand guide and updated logos across the Food Helpers divisions. This included special event branding such as the Taste Tour of Washington County, their signature annual fundraiser. What was once seen as a heavy mission was transformed into one of community strength and hope, supported by bright, helpful visuals and messaging.
  • Video, Photography, and Event Marketing
From event coverage to behind-the-scenes volunteering, True Fit Marketing has helped tell the visual story of Food Helpers’ impact. The new content supports Food Helpers’ campaigns, appeals, and outreach efforts across print and digital platforms. The True Fit Marketing team also produces marketing materials for all major fundraising campaigns and events.
  • Fractional CMO Leadership
As Food Helpers’ Fractional CMO, True Fit Marketing leads ongoing strategy development and implementation. Team members attend board meetings, present data and marketing insights, and serve as a dedicated partner in the business’s growth. This level of involvement allows True Fit Marketing to stay aligned with Food Helpers’ evolving goals while ensuring that all marketing efforts remain focused, actionable, and effective.

A True Partnership Rooted in Community

True Fit Marketing’s collaboration with Food Helpers is a great example of how a local agency can support a local cause with a lasting impact. Because the team lives and works in Washington County, members have also volunteered with Food Helpers and actively participate in supporting their mission. The relationship goes far beyond client and vendor, it’s a partnership rooted in shared values, trust, and the desire to make the community better.

Why the Partnership Works

Food Helpers is a mission-driven organization that values responsiveness, transparency, and impact, qualities that align closely with our approach at True Fit Marketing. Each team communicates regularly, shares a mutual respect for each other’s expertise, and works side-by-side to make progress that matters.

Together, True Fit Marketing is proud to amplify Food Helpers’ message, support their goals, and walk beside them on their journey to end hunger in Washington County.
